Specific Growing Conditions:

All natural fresh air (no added carbon). No A/C. Simple Air flow cooling in an open grow room. Cooling influences are 3 x 16" oscillating fans; 2 x 4" venting intake fan; 1 x 3/4 HP venting fan controlled by room temp. average 88 - 92.

For this test, we are repeating the strain from round 2 as it produced well under the Cali light. Given this new strain our bar for success would have these plants produce between 3 - 4 oz./plant (produced 89.667 grams/plant from Cali full-spectrum competition).

In this test we are using both clear lens and diffused and 100 degree lights.

To keep the harvest times staggered, we are offsetting the grow start times by a few days.

Currently both the diffused and clear lens have been flushed and are drying waiting for harvest.

Trichome development and pistil colouring indicated both lights have produced a product that is ready for the final stages of medicine production.


The buds under the Big Bud 400 LED light (both lenses) are very tightly formed and have excellent trichome development for that spoonful of sugar look.

The formation of buds on the stalk is much tighter under the diffused lens (less stick). This was partially influenced by the 13 days the diffused plants had in vegetation under the Big Bud 400; however there is a difference.

In over 8 weeks, there has been no internal markings (dirt/dust or other ie moisture) on the inside of the lens. Normal room particles are visible on the outside of the lens (easily cleaned when light is turned off). Observed on clear lens.

If you are a grower of medical marijuana, then you know what you are looking at.

For the rest of you, this is a phenomenal example of the medicine (active ingredient) of marijuana.

The "sugary" look is exactly the kind of coverage that is needed to produce a grade "A" quality bud;

and this is how you want your product to grow, covered in trichomes.

We call this Sticky Icky Strawberry OG, simply because of how sticky the buds feel to the touch.


Harvest Conclusion:

Despite the early grow conditions (hot summer during vegging) we are pleased to say that this light performed upto expectations.

With less then 10 weeks in the vegging cycle,** the diffused lens did produce better due to the last 13 days of vegging under the Big Bud 400.

Taking the single largest producer under each light, here are our conclusions.

Please Note: numbers were compiled using "Off-Peak" use in Ontario (8.7 cents/kwh), an 8 week bloom cycle, and actual production numbers of the Double "0" Doobie Project.

Our Cali competition light that produced 89.667 grams for the largest ever plant had HPS influence on two sides (2000 w). Therefore our conclusion is that the BIG BUD 400 LED with it's full range spectrum will compete directly with the results of the Cali Light. By these results the Big Bud 400 should out perform the Cali competion as it needs no HPS / analog light influence.

Of course it out performs the HPS hands down due to cost of analog technology in our digital world. Then there is the savings in cooling/nutrient/water when growing using LED lighting.
